NUMERACY & LITERACY
The group is run by a retired Teacher who has helped out at The Base for a couple of years. Each week there will be planned activities set at an appropriate level for a range of abilities. Sessions will cover basic reading and writing skills, counting, sums and practical skills such as dealing with money, telling the time and measuring etc. The sessions will be engaging and well structured but informal.
THE GARDEN PROJECT
Hands on and classroom based learning of all aspects of gardening and environmental issues on site and within the local community. Understanding of the seasons of not only plant life but of all its different and wonderful forms of habitat.
Come and get some fresh air.
The session helps build communication and an awareness of the wonders of nature and gardening.
You will play an active role in preparing for a show - helping with a script, making props, costumes and backgrounds, learning lines and practicing performances. The productions allow the group to showcase new talents for family and friends—dancing, singing, comedy etc. You don’t have to take part in the public performance if you don’t want to, behind the scenes parts can be organised. The main focus of the group is to provide a fun way for you to express yourself through Drama, learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends.
ARTS & CRAFTS
The Arts & Crafts sessions will give you the opportunity to try a variety of crafts including painting, collage, jewellery making, t-shirt painting, sewing, modelling, card making, gifts etc. The main focus of the group is to learn new skills and potentially develop hobbies through the various crafts available.
